Student-athletes from all three Northwest ISD comprehensive high schools traveled to Round Rock for the UIL Cross Country State Championships last weekend and enjoyed great success.

The weekend was highlighted by the Byron Nelson High School girls team finishing in fourth place in the 6A Girls State Championship. The Bobcats, who were led by junior MJ Novelli in 12th place, finished just one point shy of third place and a spot on the podium.

Additionally in the 6A girls race, Eaton High School junior Presley Collins finished in 16th place, less than four seconds off the pace of MJ. Senior Maggie Cuppett (54), junior Reyna Heisserer (56), senior Ella Bengtsson (61), freshman Cameron Fowler (64), senior Sabrina Kadow (93) and freshman Elena Sather (107) rounded out the competitors for Bobcats’ girls team.

Cooper Lutkenhaus represented Northwest High School in the 5A Boys State Championship race and was the highest finishing freshman, coming in at 47th place overall. In the 6A Boys State Championship race, juniors Jason Wade and Matthias Peterson represented Byron Nelson and finished in 101st and 102nd place, respectively.

Congratulations to all of the Bobcats, Eagles and Texans on another great cross country season!
