NISD wins two individual Track and Field State Championships; Bobcats finish second

Student-athletes from all three NISD comprehensive high schools traveled to the UIL Track & Field State Championships last weekend with the Byron Nelson High School boys team finishing in second place. In addition, individuals from Eaton and Byron Nelson won state championships.
Kaden Bram, a senior from Eaton High School, took home the gold medal and state championship in the discus throw. He led the field with a throw of 188’9” on his fifth of six attempts. Three of Kaden’s throws went beyond 185’, a mark that no other competitor hit in the 6A boys competition.
Jayden Frye, a senior from Byron Nelson, also returned home as a state champion after earning a gold medal in the long jump. Entering his final of six attempts, Jayden sat in third place but he rose to the top of standings with a mark of 25’0” on his last jump that led the 6A boys field.

Jayden (10 team points for a first place finish) was the top scorer for the Byron Nelson boys team which finished in second place in the team standings after multiple school records were broken. The Bobcats’ 4x100-meter relay team narrowly missed breaking its own school record with a time 40.45 seconds in a 4th place finish.
Jayden Gillison and Macavion Hill broke school records in the 200-meter and 100-meter dashes, respectively. Jayden finished fourth with a time of 20.78 seconds while Macavion finished 6th with a time of 10.24 seconds.
Landon Crawford also scored for the Bobcats after finishing fourth in the discus throw with a mark of 182’11”.
In the girls competition, Levariya Pinder, a senior from Northwest High School, was the lone NISD representative. In her third consecutive trip to Austin, Lavariya finished in third place in the girls long jump with a personal-best jump of 20’2”.
