Northwest ISD elementary and middle schools recognized in U.S. News and World Report rankings

Several Northwest ISD elementary and middle schools have been recognized as top-performing campuses by U.S. News & World Report. Seven campuses have earned the U.S. News Best Elementary Schools award and two campuses have earned the U.S. News Best Middle Schools award.

In order to earn the distinction, schools must rank in the top 40 percent in their state in the U.S. News rankings. These rankings are based on students’ proficiency in math and reading/language arts, assessed through state assessments, while also considering socioeconomic demographics, according to the U.S. News & World Report website.

Cox Elementary School 
Schluter Elementary School 
Granger Elementary School
Roanoke Elementary School

2025 U.S. News Best Middle Schools:
Medlin Middle School
Tidwell Middle School

The U.S. News & World Report releases high school rankings each April. Last year, all four NISD high schools were named U.S. News Best High Schools.
