Schluter, Hatfield re-elected to school board
Northwest ISD voters have re-elected DeAnne Hatfield and Mark Schluter to the district’s school board, according to preliminary results. Following certification of results, the incumbent duo will be sworn to new terms at the May 20 school board meeting.
Mrs. Hatfield ran unopposed to retain her Place 1 seat on the school board. She enters her second term on the board. Unofficial results for the May 4 election show voters re-electing Mr. Schluter to the Place 2 seat on the board with 3,396 votes for 67.18% of the total tally. Amanda Smith, his sole opponent, earned 1,659 votes (32.82%).
When the duo is sworn in at the Northwest ISD Board of Trustees meeting on May 20, they will begin their next three-year terms steering the district’s direction with their fellow board members. Mrs. Hatfield has served on the school board since 2019, while Mr. Schluter has served on the board for consecutive terms since 2006 but previously served from 1988 to 1997, earning him the distinction of Northwest ISD’s longest-serving trustee.
Mrs. Hatfield brings experience in the financial realm to the board, having previously worked in the district’s finance department. Mr. Schluter brings experience as a planner, as he is employed as a civil engineer project manager. Both Mrs. Hatfield and Mr. Schluter grew up attending Northwest ISD schools.
Votes will be canvassed during a special meeting on May 14 to formally certify election results.
