Northwest ISD has named Shari Jones as the next principal of Seven Hills Elementary School, placing a veteran school leader at the campus for the upcoming school year.

For the past three years, Mrs. Jones has served as the principal of Bobby Joe Hill STEAM Academy in El Paso ISD, where she leads a campus that serves students in pre-kindergarten to eighth grade. At the academy, Mrs. Jones has led the development of a unique instructional environment integrating science, technology, engineering, the arts and math into engaging, hands-on learning experiences.

Mrs. Jones said she looks forward to getting to know the Seven Hills students, staff and community and ensuring high educational standards exist to support student growth.

“As a principal, my focus is providing students with the tools they need to think critically and solve problems,” she said. “That starts with amazing classroom teachers and extends to our community, as education is a partnership between the school and home. I look forward to getting to know the Seven Hills Wolves family.”

Prior to her current role, Mrs. Jones served as an assistant principal for 10 years across Copperas Cove ISD, Ysleta ISD and El Paso ISD. She began her career in education as a teacher in Missouri, serving students at North Kansas City Schools before moving to Texas and teaching in Copperas Cove ISD.

She will succeed Kim Blackburn, who will serve as the inaugural principal of Romer Elementary School after leading Seven Hills Elementary School for the past decade.

Mrs. Jones earned her master’s degree in elementary education from Rockhurst University in Missouri and her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Missouri. She has also earned education specialist and educational administration certifications from Northwest Missouri State University.
