Supporting teachers, staff with Dr. David Hicks Memorial Fund
Northwest ISD and the Northwest ISD Education Foundation continue to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. David Hicks through the fund in his name.
Dr. Hicks served as the superintendent of Northwest ISD in 2022, and he sadly died of a medical emergency during the 2022-2023 school year on September 9, 2022. In his honor, the Hicks family set up the Dr. David Hicks Memorial Fund to support outstanding Northwest ISD educators and support staff.
Jessica Zeske (Eaton High School), Barry Hawkins (Byron Nelson High School), Maclaine Green (Beck Elementary) and Cedric Younger (central office) received the inaugural Dr. Hicks Excellence in Education awards at this year's convocation. Each of the four winners were chosen by their NISD peers as an outstanding employee and co-worker.
