Northwest ISD continues to build new schools to keep pace with a rapidly growing student population, and thanks to voter support, the district will open new schools across all campus levels over the next two and a half years. These schools will address significant needs, including a new high school to provide relief to existing campuses as well as the district's first early childhood center to meet the needs of a burgeoning pre-kindergarten population.

In the most recent bond election in 2023, voters approved a package that will build new schools and facilities to support 8,400 new students. Because of its rapid annual enrollment increase, the state has classified Northwest ISD as a fast-growth school district for more than 25 years. With just over a third of the district’s land developed, Northwest ISD will likely remain a fast-growth district for an additional 30 to 40 years.

The bond package approved by voters in 2023 includes 12 new schools to alleviate and prevent overcrowding of existing schools. Based on data from quarterly demographic reports compiled by industry experts, Northwest ISD’s facilities and planning team targets a school for relief through a campus opening when they exceed 90% capacity and demographers project impending enrollment growth within the school’s boundaries.

With more new home construction than any other school district in North Texas as well as an annual enrollment increase of 1,200 students, Northwest ISD ranks as the fastest-growing district in the region. To ensure space exists for all students, voters have regularly approved bond packages to build new schools and facilities. Typically, these elections take place every three to four years to prevent overcrowded schools.

Beyond the construction projects listed below, voters also approved lifecycle replacements for technology devices and buses. Northwest ISD operates replacement cycles for these smaller-scale bond projects to maximize resale funds. These projects are funded on short-term bonds to pay off device and bus investments with less costs on interest payments.
