The application process for Northwest ISD’s tuition-based pre-kindergarten program for the 2020-21 school year is now open, providing families with the opportunity to apply for pre-K to prepare their students for a school environment.

Tuition-based pre-K is available for children who live within Northwest ISD boundaries and will be 4 years old by Sept. 1 but do not meet the eligibility requirements to enroll in state-funded pre-K. Because class space is limited, tuition-based pre-K will select students through a lottery system. Lottery registration for the program will be available until 5 p.m. Thursday, March 19, when the application process will close. Students will be selected for the program based on available classroom space at Curtis, Haslet, Hatfield, Hughes, Justin, Lakeview, Lance Thompson, Nance, Peterson, Roanoke, Seven Hills and Thompson elementary schools.

The lottery drawing will take place the week of March 23, and letters will be emailed to families selected by 5 p.m. Friday, March 27. Those families will then have the opportunity to respond to confirm their intent to register for pre-K, with the registration process beginning Monday, April 20.

Those who are accepted into the tuition-based program will have the opportunity to attend half-day pre-K. Tuition for the program is $377.80 per month over 10 months, or a one-time payment of $3,778. A non-refundable payment of $125 is due during document review at a child’s campus to hold his or her spot. This payment, which only applies to those chosen from the lottery, will be credited toward the first tuition payment.
