MaxPreps has named recent Byron Nelson High School graduate Paige Flickinger as its Texas Female High School Athlete of the Year, capping off an accolade-filled high school career for the Bobcat alumna.

Paige earned the award in the MaxPreps list of top female high school athletes in each state for the 2019-20 school year, published May 29. She earned the honor following MaxPreps also naming her its Volleyball Player of the Year for the entire nation.

The Byron Nelson Bobcat volleyball team earned the first state title in the sport in both the school and Northwest ISD’s history after beating the Plano West Wolves in November to become UIL 6A state champions.

Following the championship, Paige earned numerous accolades, including her second consecutive Gatorade Texas Volleyball Player of the Year award as well as the Texas Girls Coaches Association’s 5A-6A Volleyball Player of the Year award, also for the second straight time. She was one of three Bobcats named to the UIL’s 6A all-tournament team.

Paige will continue her academic and volleyball career at Louisiana State University, where she will play indoor and beach volleyball for the Tigers.
