Texas OnCourse has selected Shana Jackson, Eaton High School’s lead counselor, as a TXOC leader fellow, joining a prestigious group of 29 state counselors and advisers who are among the top in their fields.

Ms. Jackson demonstrated leadership in supporting Eaton students and colleagues with counseling needs, leading to her selection as a fellow. As a result of her selection, Ms. Jackson will now serve as a critical resource for counselors, advisers and teachers across the state as they connect students, families and educators to Texas OnCourse resources.

Texas OnCourse will recognize Ms. Jackson and the other 28 leader fellows – the first group selected in the program’s history – at the University of Texas at Austin on July 27 to begin their fellowship service. The event can be followed on Twitter through the hashtags #TXOC and #LeadersOnCourse.

The Texas OnCourse initiative is a joint program created by the state government and operated by the University of Texas at Austin in partnership with the Texas Education Agency, Texas Workforce Commission and Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. It provides free education resources across the state to students, families and educators alike through their goal of preparing students for colleges and careers.

Leader fellows can receive up to $10,000 over two years and their schools receive a $5,000 award for their leadership.
