Eaton High School’s Reach Robotics team has advanced to the national FIRST Championship in Houston, scheduled for April 18-21, following a strong performance at their regional qualifier in Dallas.

The team, led by co-captains Skye Jordan and Landon Johnson, advanced to the last round of the regional semifinal, where they earned the rookie all-star team award. Eaton’s drive team members include Tori Gonzales, Jett Koele, Corbin Scott and Colby Steele. Team members include Nathan Armstrong, Joel Cabanting, Daisy Frichithavong, Dan Nguyen, James Rossi and Juan Sanchez.

The robotics team is overseen by faculty advisors Carla Felipe, William Gilbert and Sarah Thomasson. Jon and Jamie Jordan serve as chaperones for the team.

Through the FIRST Robotics Competition program, high school students across the world take part in a six-week building event to create and program robots that can complete games. Robots can weigh up to 120 pounds and complete games such as scoring goals, hang onto bars, balance on beams and more.
