Northwest ISD’s Cosmetology Academy will offer new attendance options beginning during the 2021-2022 academic year.

Current sophomores enrolled in the district who are interested in joining NISD's Cosmetology Academy are invited to complete an online enrollment request.

The academy — a two-year program — will allow students to be eligible to test and earn their cosmetology license at the end of their senior year.

A typical class day during a student’s junior year will begin at the Cosmetology Academy for morning technical courses.  Students will return to their home campus for the second half of the day to complete their required core classes, including English, math, science, and social studies.

School days will be in reverse order throughout senior year, with academy students beginning their day at their home campus and traveling to the Cosmetology Academy for the second half of the school day.

Transportation to and from home campuses will be provided for all Cosmetology Academy students.

This attendance change does not apply to 9th and 10th grade students who are currently enrolled in the Cosmetology Academy.

Please contact your student’s counselor to explore if the enrolling in the Cosmetology Academy fits into your student’s graduation plan.
