Northwest ISD families who qualify for the state-funded pre-kindergarten program can now enroll their children in the service.

State-funded pre-K is available to families who meet at least one specific criterion for enrollment. Criteria include being unable to speak and comprehend English, being eligible for free or reduced lunch, being the child of an active-duty military member, currently or ever having been in foster care, being the child of a person eligible for the Star of Texas Award, or being homeless. The state-funded pre-K program is available at 12 Northwest ISD elementary schools: Curtis, Haslet, Hughes, Justin, Lakeview, Love, Nance, Peterson, Prairie View, Roanoke, Seven Hills and Thompson.

All Northwest ISD pre-K classes operate on a half-day schedule for five days a week. Children must be 4 years old by Sept. 1 and live within Northwest ISD boundaries.
