Health Screening
The Texas Department of Health requires students to receive periodic screenings for health issues related to problems with Hearing, Vision, Scoliosis and Pre-Diabetes (AN).
Students in kindergarten, first, third, fifth and seventh grade are screened to detect problems with hearing and distance vision. For more information click Vision & Hearing Screening Texas.
During the screening for hearing, the examiner will briefly look at the student's neck to determine whether they have a skin marker suggesting they may be at risk for Pre-Diabetes.
For more information please visit Pre-Diabetes Screening Texas.
Per guidelines from the state of Texas, female students are screened for scoliosis, an abnormal curvature of the back, in fifth and seventh grades. Male students are screened in eighth grade. For more information, please click Scoliosis Screening Texas.
If you prefer your child is not screened for spinal abnormalities because of religious reasons, please complete this affidavit and submit to your Campus Health Coordinator.
