Diving Lessons
NISD is excited to offer two diving camps to our middle school students (grades 6-11) this summer through the GC Divers Club Team, a third-party provider. Each camp will be $80.00 per participant
June 5 - 8, 2023 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Northwest Narwhals – 2023
North Texas Summer League
The Northwest Narwhals swimming team is a member of the North Texas Summer League. Our program is for Northwest ISD students ages 5-18 and offers a competitive format over a short period of time.
Parents Meeting:
- 12 pm - Saturday, May 6, 2023 at the NISD Aquatic Center located at 1976 Texan; Justin, TX 76247.
- All prospective parents are encouraged to attend this meeting.
Requirements:
- 10 and under swimmers will need to be able swim 25 yards of the pool using the freestyle stroke while using side breathing.
- 11-18 swimmers will need to do the same while going 50 yards.
Tryouts:
- 1 – 4 pm, Saturday - May 6 (NISD Aquatic Center)
- 10 and Under from 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm
- 11 and Over from 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm
- 4 – 6 pm, Friday - May 12 (NISD Aquatic Center)
- 2 – 4 p.m., Saturday, May 13 (NISD Aquatic Center)
Cost:
- $200.00 for each swimmer that qualifies for the team ($175.00 for NISD District Employees).
- No refunds after June 1, 2023.
- Cost includes all entry fees, an awesome tee-shirt, and a team swimming cap.

Camp Invention is one week in the summer where your child’s creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills are challenged and developed in fun and exciting ways. Our top priority is to inspire future innovators and build their confidence in the natural ability to dream and create.
Middle school students are encouraged to enroll as Counselors-in-Training and high school students can apply to be Leadership Interns.

Camp Pursuit is an engaging, academic day camp comprised of mixed-age, high-interest courses, topics and projects for students entering grades 1st-8th, taught by NuMinds-trained educators.
Students engage in intriguing and exciting STEAM topics to follow their passions. Our staff of fully-trained professionals teach what they're passionate about in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math.

Creative Problem Solving (DI) Camp
Entering Grades 3-8 (2023-2024)
This camp welcomes both DI alum and newbies. The camp will offer sessions on the various components like prop building, repurposing materials for something new, instant challenges, and improv.
Visit the NISD's Online Payment Portal to register for this fun-filled day of DI! After paying, there will be a Google Form for parents to fill out that will complete registration.
We are happy to have volunteers help at camp. High School & College students who have participated in DI can earn volunteer hours and mentor upcoming competitive DI teams!

Registration is now open for TechnoCamp 2023!
TechnoCamp offers students the opportunity to cultivate their creativity through fun, hands-on STEM based experiences. Students can choose to explore our SPIKE Robots, Drones, our new STEAM Camp, Minecraft EDU, VEXGO Robots, or participate in our fun and exciting QUEST Camp. All camps promote learning through designing, creating and engineering with technology and are sure to keep your young learner engaged this summer!

TWU/AFA CyberCamp
June 12-16, 2023
Our society's economic vitality and national security depend on a safe cyberspace and individual cybersecurity skills.
TWU/AFA CyberCamp emphasizes fun, hands-on learning of cybersecurity principles that are relevant and applicable to everyday life. Developed by the Air Force Association (AFA), the camp curriculum covers new topics and engages participants in hands-on activities each day, building up to an exciting, final team competition simulating real cyber security situations faced by industry professionals.
No previous experience is required. Students completing 8th–12th grade are invited to apply.

TWU STEMM
STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, & Medicine)
July 24-28, 2023
STEMM Camp is a new and original summer program where students explore basic and medical science through hands-on, inquiry-based laboratory activities and engaging real-world case studies.
STEMM Camp is offered in the Ann Stuart Science Complex on the TWU campus in Denton, providing students with the opportunity to experience the college campus environment. The week-long experience will feature STEM programming as well as a college admissions tour, a field trip to the Scientific Research Commons, and guest speakers who are STEM professionals.
No previous experience is required. Students completing 8th–12th grade are invited to apply.

Elementary Summer School
Grades 3-5
This summer, students will be identified to attend Elementary Summer Reading & Math Camps based on a collection of data. We believe students who are invited would benefit from additional in person instruction and practice opportunities.
These camps will focus on solidifying key concepts and will help to accelerate instruction to prepare your child for success during the 2023-24 school year.
Summer Reading and Math Camps will be held June 13-15, 20-22, 27-29 (Tues-Thurs). Students will attend 3.5 hours each day (or all day if in need of both Math and Reading).
Transportation will be provided for those who qualify. The camp is offered FREE OF CHARGE for all invited students.

Middle School Summer School

Middle School Summer Reading & Math Camps
This summer, students have been identified to attend Middle School Summer Reading & Math Camps based on a collection of data. We believe students who are invited would benefit from additional in person instruction and practice opportunities. These camps will focus on solidifying key concepts and will help to accelerate instruction to prepare your child for success during the 2023-24 school year.
Summer Reading and Math Camps will be held June 13-15, 20-22, 27-29 (Tues-Thurs). Students will attend 3.5 hours each day (or all day if in need of both Math and Reading) at the middle school campus they attended during the 2022-23 school year.
Transportation will be provided for those who qualify and this camp is offered FREE OF CHARGE for all invited students.
Grades 6-8
Credit Recovery
Middle School students who have failed two or more core courses (English, Math, Science and Social Studies) for the year are able to meet NISD promotion requirements by successful completion of summer school. The course(s) are online, self-paced, with teachers who closely monitor student progress and assist students as needed. Grades in summer school will be awarded in the form of a P (Pass) or F (Fail). In order to earn a P (Pass) students must complete 100% of the course and have at least a 70% average. All credit recovery work will be completed online.
Summer school credit recovery dates are June 6th -29th, 2023. Registration for Credit Recovery will open May 1st.

High School EOC/STAAR Summer Camp
High School EOC/STAAR Summer Camp
This summer, students have been identified to preregister for High School EOC/STAAR Summer Camps based on a collection of data. We believe students who are invited would benefit from additional in person instruction and practice opportunities.
Spring EOC/STAAR data will be received in the district May 31st. If your student passes their spring EOC/STAAR exams, they will no longer need to participate in the High School EOC/STAAR Summer Camp opportunity. These camps will focus on solidifying key concepts and will help to accelerate instruction to prepare your child to take the summer EOC/STAAR administration June 20-22, 2023. When spring EOC/STAAR scores are received by the district on May 31st, we will dismiss any student from the High School EOC/STAAR Summer Camp for the course they passed.
High School EOC/STAAR Summer Camps will be held June 5-8, 12-15 (Mon-Thurs). Students will attend 3.75 hours each day (or all day if in need of support on two courses) at the middle school campus closest to the high school campus they attended during the 2022-23 school year (Byron Nelson at Medlin, Eaton at Adams, Northwest at Pike, and Steele at the student’s home high school campus location).
Transportation will be provided for those who qualify and this camp is offered FREE OF CHARGE for all invited students.
High School Credit Recovery or Original Credit - Virtual
High School students who have failed a course and need to recover credit or who are interested in taking courses for original credit can enroll in summer school. The courses are online, self-paced, with teachers who closely monitor student progress and assist students as needed. High school summer school credit recovery and original credit dates are scheduled for: Session 1 - June 6th -29th, 2023 and Session 2 - July 10th - 27th, 2023. Please note that all final exams must be taken in person on campus. Registration for Credit Recovery will open May 1st.

Original Credit - $100 ($50 for Free and Reduced) - Non-refundable after a student has started a course.
Credit Recovery - $50 ($25 for Free and Reduced) - Non-refundable once a student has started a course.
