Elementary Summer School
2025 Reading & Math Summer School
Grades 3-5
June 9-12 (M-Th)
This summer, students will be identified to attend Elementary Summer Reading & Math Camps based on a collection of data. We believe students who are invited would benefit from additional in-person instruction and practice opportunities. These camps will focus on solidifying key concepts and will help to accelerate instruction to prepare your child for success during the 2025-2026 school year.
Summer Reading and Math Camps will be held June 9-12 (Mon.-Thur.). Students will attend for 3.5 hours each day (or all day if they need both math and reading).
Transportation will be provided for those who qualify and this camp is offered FREE OF CHARGE for all invited students.

This summer, students have been identified to attend Middle School Summer Reading & Math Camps based on a collection of data. We believe students who are invited would benefit from additional in person instruction and practice opportunities. These camps will focus on solidifying key concepts and will help to accelerate instruction to prepare your child for success during the 2025-2026 school year.
Summer Reading and Math Camps will be held June 9-12 (Mon.-Thur.). Students will attend 3 hours each day (or all day if they need both Math and Reading) at the middle school campus they attended during the 2024-25 school year, *except for the changes below.
Transportation will be provided for those who qualify and this camp is offered FREE OF CHARGE for all invited students.

2025 Middle School Credit Recovery
Grades 6-8
June 4 - 27
Middle School students who have failed two or more core courses (English, Math, Science and Social Studies) for the year are able to meet NISD promotion requirements by successful completion of summer school. The course(s) are online and self-paced, with teachers who closely monitor student progress and assist students as needed. Summer school grades will be awarded as a P (Pass) or F (Fail). To earn a P (Pass), students must complete 100% of the course and have at least a 70% average. All credit recovery work will be completed online.

Cost
$75 ($25 for Free and Reduced) - Non-refundable once a student has started a course.

High school students who need to retake an End-of-Course (EOC Exam) may do so this summer. The English I and US History retakes will be offered June 16. The Algebra I and English II retakes will be offered June 17. The Biology retake and other make-up exams will be offered June 18.
All EOC/STAAR Summer Administrations will take place at Worthington Middle School.
Registration will take place after spring EOC/STAAR scores are received in the district in May.

All semester exams will be taken in a supervised setting at the student’s high school campus.
Students enrolled in Credit Recovery will work from home in an online setting. All coursework and exams must be completed by the end of each summer school session. The initial semester course must be completed by June 27 and the second course by July 25. Students who do not complete their coursework by the district deadline will be required to start the course over. To gain credit for a full year’s course, students must complete both semesters of work. To receive credit for the course, students must complete 100% of the course and score at least 70% as an overall grade for each semester.
Credit recovery grades are awarded as P (Pass) or F (Fail). For further information on high school credits, see the Secondary Grading Guidelines.

High school students (students who have completed 8th grade) who want to accelerate their learning can do so by taking online courses for original credit through a web-based curriculum. The coursework is online, and the student works independently in a self-paced format.
All semester exams will be taken in a supervised setting at the student’s high school campus.
The initial semester course must be completed by June 27, and the second course must be completed by July 25. Students who do not complete their coursework by the district deadline will be required to start the course over. Students are expected to complete online work regularly within the web-based program.
Grades in original credit are awarded a numeric grade and will be factored into the student’s GPA. Students need to meet with their counselor to verify that the course is needed and will be accepted as credit towards a student’s graduation plan. Cost
$125 per .5 credit - ($50 for Free and Reduced) Non-refundable once a student has started a course.

Northwest Narwhals/Swimming Team
Northwest Narwhals – 2025
North Texas Summer League
The Northwest Narwhals swimming team is a member of the North Texas Summer League. Our program is for Northwest ISD students ages 5-18 and offers a competitive format over a short period of time.
Parents Meeting:
- 6 pm - Friday, May 2, 2025 at the NISD Aquatic Center located at 1976 Texan; Justin, TX 76247.
- All prospective parents are encouraged to attend this meeting.
Requirements:
- 10 and under swimmers will need to be able swim 25 yards of the pool using the freestyle stroke while using side breathing.
- 11-18 swimmers will need to do the same while going 50 yards.
Tryouts:
- 7 – 9 pm, Friday - May 2 (NISD Aquatic Center)
- 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., Saturday, May 3 (NISD Aquatic Center)
(If you are unable to attend one of these tryout dates, PLEASE email Coach Pottorff at kpottorff@nisdtx.org to set up a tryout time.)
Cost:
- $225 for each swimmer that qualifies for the team ($200 for NISD District Employees).
- No refunds after June 1, 2025.
- Cost includes all entry fees, an awesome tee-shirt, and a team swimming cap.

Camp Invention is one week in the summer where your child’s creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills are challenged and developed in fun and exciting ways. Our top priority is to inspire future innovators and build their confidence in the natural ability to dream and create.
Middle school students are encouraged to enroll as Counselors-in-Training and high school students can apply to be Leadership Interns.

Camp Pursuit is an engaging, academic day camp comprised of mixed-age, high-interest courses, topics and projects for students entering grades 1st-8th, taught by NuMinds-trained educators.
Students engage in intriguing and exciting STEAM topics to follow their passions. Our staff of fully-trained professionals teach what they're passionate about in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math.

Whether you’ve done DI before or not, if you like using your imagination, then this is the camp for you. We’ll write stories, create costumes and props, learn some acting skills and present our hard work tour peers. This event takes place at Granger Elementary School. We are happy to have volunteers help at camp. High School & College students who have participated in DI can earn volunteer hours and mentor upcoming competitive DI teams!

Enroll your child in Aramark's Jr. Chef Academy, where they will have the opportunity to learn essential cooking skills in a fun and interactive environment!
