World Languages Credit by Exam
Credit by examination for acceleration without prior instruction is to allow students to progress to courses that challenge them without having to take courses that cover information they already know.
A student in grades 6-12 will be given credit for an academic course if the student scores 80% or above on the ENTIRE course examination. Grade earned through CBE are not included in the GPA ranking. (Board Policy EIC - Legal/Local)
NISD uses Avant for our World Languages Credit by Exam
The Avant STAMP WS language proficiency test is a semi-adaptive test. Test takers will be asked to answer seven self-evaluation questions that best represent their skill/ability level in both the Reading and Listening sections. The self-evaluated reading score is used to determine the level of prompt delivered for the Writing section. The same applies for the listening self-evaluation related to the Speaking prompts. This allows the language productive sections to be more appropriately leveled for the test taker. STAMP WS provides the same detailed reporting of levels based on the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines as Avant’s other assessments.
Students will need:
- A district issued/district approved device
- Headphones
